An old beach house was demolished to make way for this unique three level home. The home is built on a steep elevated block with 180 degree ocean views.
An undercroft garage is accessed from street level and the owners are then able to access the house via the lift or the internal staircase to the home.
Extra wide jarrah boards form a sloping stairway bordered by a stunning pond and waterfall, which lead to a cedar pivot entry door and then continue through the entry giving the feeling of walking along a jetty. The jarrah boards continue to a glass panel at the rear of the entry which allows for full view of the greenery of the backyard.
This first level of the home is a complete self-contained home, which serves to accomodate the owners' children and grandchildren, giving immediate access to the backyard for the younger family to entertain and play.
Ascending the Tasmanian Oak timber staircase, or by using the lift to the second level, the owners and their guests can enjoy complete privacy from the lower level and enjoy the incredible view and feeling of openness provided on this level.
The second level of the home is completely timber framed and this allows for the floor to ceiling cedar sliding-stacking doors to recess completely into the concealed cavity walls and open the entire upper floor to the balcony. The angled balcony has a Tasmanian Oak sealed decking with waterproof caulking to give the feel of being on a boat deck. The stainless steel wire balustrading adds to the effect.
The north-westerly facing aspect of this home gives perfect protection from the elements but glass shutters on the western end of the alfresco area allow for subtle breeze to flow through during summer.
During winter, the entire area can be closed off and warmed by the beautiful stone fireplace found in the meals area, or by sitting around the inbuilt outdoor wood-fired pizza oven in the alfresco area.
